Georgetown University faces backlash over alleged Charlie Kirk lookalike contest

Georgetown University is facing backlash following reports of an alleged student-organized Charlie Kirk lookalike contest. The event was reportedly promoted anonymously on Fizz, a social media platform used by the university community, and was scheduled for September 10, marking the one-year anniversary of Kirk’s assassination.

The anonymous post, which reportedly received over 2,200 upvotes, invited students to Copley Lawn for the contest. In response to the reports, a Georgetown University spokesperson stated that the institution is not planning such an event and is unaware of any official student organization involvement. The university condemned the language used in the posts, stating it is “deeply inconsistent with Georgetown University’s values.”

Turning Point USA has strongly criticized the alleged tribute. A spokesperson for the organization described the actions as a sign of a culture that has “lost touch with a basic sense of shared humanity.” The controversy follows the one-year anniversary of the assassination of the far-right commentator, which occurred at Utah Valley University.
