Georgetown University to host Hoya Fan Fest for basketball season

Georgetown University Athletics has announced the return of the Hoya Fan Fest, a kickoff event for the men’s and women’s basketball seasons, to be held on October 15 at McDonough Arena. This marks the first time the university has hosted the festival since 2019.

The event will feature speeches from men’s basketball head coach Ed Cooley and women’s basketball head coach Darnell Haney. While specific details regarding giveaways or challenges have not yet been released, the event is expected to mirror the popular “Hoya Madness” format used prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival will be free for all students to attend.

Meanwhile, basketball practices for the 2026-27 season have officially commenced at the Thompson Athletic Center. The men’s roster remains unconfirmed due to ongoing eligibility decisions and court cases involving potential fifth-season players, including Vince Iwuchukwu and NJ Benson.
