Georgi Kabakov appointed to UEFA Europa League match
Bulgarian referee Georgi Kabakov has received a prestigious appointment from the UEFA Referees Committee to officiate a Europa League Matchday 3 fixture between Celtic and Celta Vigo. The match is scheduled to take place at Celtic Park on Thursday, October 22.
Kabakov will be supported by his regular assistant team, with Martin Margaritov and Martin Venev serving as linesmen and Nikola Popov as the fourth official. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team will consist of German officials Soren Stroks and Robert Schroeder.
This appointment follows Kabakov’s performance in a recent match between Viking and Bayern Munich, which ended in a 3-3 draw. Despite mixed reactions to a red card he issued to Michael Olise during that game, his subsequent selection by UEFA suggests a high performance rating. This upcoming match marks Kabakov’s third Europa League assignment of the season and his tenth official match of the current campaign across all competitions.
