Bulgarian football celebrates the 80th birthday of Georgi Vasilev, widely regarded as one of the nation's most successful coaches. Known as "Gocheto," Vasilev holds the distinction of leading three different Bulgarian clubs—Etar, Levski, and CSKA—to league championship titles.
His managerial achievements include securing consecutive titles with Levski in 1994 and 1995, and a domestic double with CSKA in 1997. Internationally, he is noted for leading second-division Union Berlin to the German Cup final in 2001. His career also includes coaching roles in Cyprus and Greece, as well as serving on the coaching staff for the Bulgarian national team during the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
As a player, Vasilev was a prominent figure for Etar, where he was recognized for his technical skill and notable performances against international opponents.
