Georgia 13th District holds special congressional runoff
A special election runoff is scheduled for Tuesday in Georgia’s 13th Congressional District to fill the seat vacated by the late Democratic U.S. Representative David Scott, who died on April 22.
The runoff features two Democratic candidates: former Gwinnett County School Board Chair Everton Blair and Marcye Scott, the daughter of the late congressman. The two finalists emerged from a July 28 all-party special election where Scott received approximately 46% of the vote and Blair received approximately 38%.
The winner will serve the remaining months of David Scott’s term. Neither candidate is seeking the full term that begins on January 3, 2027.
