Georgia ACA health insurance premiums projected to rise by 20% or more

Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance premiums in Georgia are projected to increase by 20% or more for 2027 coverage. Data from the state-run exchange, Georgia Access, indicates that these proposed hikes follow previous significant increases seen in 2026 after pandemic-era subsidies expired.

Proposed increases from various insurers include Alliant at 29%, Oscar at 28%, AMGP at 25%, and BCBS/Anthem at 21%. Some providers, such as Cigna and UnitedHealthcare, are expected to leave the market in 2027, while Antidote is slated to enter.

These potential price hikes have raised concerns among consumers and healthcare providers. Hospital lobbyists suggest that rising costs may lead to more uninsured individuals seeking free care at hospitals. The Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance noted that these figures are based on mid-summer negotiations and are not final; prices will be finalized before open enrollment begins on November 1.
