Georgia and Azerbaijan sign 20‑year energy cooperation agreements

Georgia and Azerbaijan have signed a package of strategic energy agreements covering a 20‑year supply and transit of electricity and natural gas, as well as the loading of the Georgian section of the Baku‑Supsa oil tank. The deals also include the restoration of the Baku‑Tbilisi‑Supsa pipeline and the upcoming operation of the Baku‑Tbilisi‑Kars railway, enhancing Georgia’s role as an energy and transport corridor to Turkey and Europe.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze called the agreements “of unprecedented importance” for Georgia’s economic development, energy security and transit function, noting that the renewed gas contract secures favorable volumes and prices and that the pipeline’s re‑opening will recover tens of millions of lari in annual revenue.
