Georgia audit finds voter registration rolls are 99.9% accurate

An independent audit conducted by the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts has found that the state’s voter registration and list-maintenance systems are highly accurate. The report, requested by the Georgia Senate Appropriations Committee, indicates that Georgia’s voter rolls achieved 99.9% accuracy.

Auditors estimated that no more than 0.1% of voter registration records would have permitted voting despite unverified identity, invalid residential addresses, or unverified eligibility. The audit focused on address and identity validation, statutory compliance, and alignment with best practices.

Findings show that 99.8% of nearly 7.9 million voter registrations included a Georgia REAL ID, with 98% of voter registrations being checked for citizenship using DDS REAL ID data at the time of registration. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger stated that the results confirm the state’s safeguards and voter lists are ‘best in class’ for ensuring only eligible citizens can vote.
