Georgia daycare investigation after fire extinguisher injures toddler

A two-year-old girl, Jynesis Daniel, suffered a severe foot injury at Willoway Preschool in McDonough, Georgia, after a fire extinguisher reportedly fell from a wall and struck her on August 21.

The incident required the toddler to undergo two surgeries at Arthur M. Blank Hospital. While doctors initially attempted to reattach the damaged toes, one toe could not be saved and had to be amputated to prevent infection.

The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) is investigating the circumstances of the accident, specifically how the equipment became loose. The family has reported the case to Henry County police and has retained legal counsel to seek accountability.
