Georgia Bulldogs defeat Florida Gators 27-8 in Atlanta

No. 3 Georgia defeated No. 17 Florida 27-8 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, marking the first time the historic rivalry was played indoors due to renovations at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

Georgia capitalized on four Florida turnovers and eight penalties to secure the victory. Georgia linebacker Chris Cole recorded a 66-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the first half. The Bulldogs' defense held Florida's rushing attack to just 48 yards, while Florida quarterback Aaron Philo struggled, throwing two interceptions before being benched.

Following the loss, Florida head coach Jon Sumrall apologized to fans, stating the performance was “clearly not good enough” and promising to improve the program's standards. Georgia coach Kirby Smart also commented on the current state of the SEC, noting concerns regarding increased injury rates despite reduced practice times.
