Georgia helicopter crash kills groom and pilot
A lawsuit filed by Robb & Robb LLC alleges that a helicopter crash following a wedding in Dawsonville, Georgia, resulted in the death of groom Dave Fiji and pilot Nikhil Nargundkar. The incident occurred on May 29 after the newlyweds, Jesni Sam and Fiji, boarded a Robinson R66 helicopter operated by Prestige Helicopters for a sendoff to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the aircraft struck tall trees and crashed into the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area approximately five minutes after takeoff. The lawsuit claims the flight proceeded despite unfavorable weather conditions, including rain, fog, low clouds, and advisories for thunderstorms and poor visibility.
Jesni Sam survived the crash but was reportedly trapped in the wreckage beneath the body of her husband for approximately six hours before rescuers reached her.
