Georgia launches bipartisan election integrity task force

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has launched a bipartisan election integrity task force to bolster voter confidence ahead of the state’s midterm elections. The group consists of former elected officials from both parties, county election workers, and election experts.

Notable members include former Democratic Governor Roy Barnes, former Democratic Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, former Republican U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, and former Republican U.S. Representative Drew Ferguson. Raffensperger stated that the appointees are “well-respected members of the community” intended to act as “fair brokers of the truth” to combat efforts that cast doubt on election outcomes.

The task force will participate in regional election worker training, attend roundtable policy discussions, and coordinate with local election officials. Muscogee County Elections and Registration Director Nancy Boren is among the appointed county officials tasked with providing administrative insight to the panel.
