Georgia man arrested for firebombing Flock Safety cameras

Colby Williams, 25, of McDonough, was arrested in Georgia after allegedly targeting automated license plate readers (ALPRs) manufactured by Flock Safety. According to Cobb County police, Williams fired projectiles at several cameras near Atlanta, setting three devices ablaze.

Investigators report that Williams targeted a camera at East Cobb Park, where he affixed a sticker reading ‘deflock’ with a QR code linking to a website that crowdsources the locations of ALPRs. He then allegedly targeted three more cameras near a Home Depot, two of which caught fire and spread to nearby foliage.

Williams was ultimately tracked and arrested using the same camera network he targeted, as the devices captured images of his 2013 gray Volkswagen GTI. He faces multiple charges, including four counts of third-degree arson, four counts of second-degree criminal damage to property, interference with government property, and reckless conduct.
