Georgia man shark‑bitten while rescuing pregnant fiancée in Florida

Jacorey High, a man in his early 20s from Henry County, Georgia, was wading in waist‑deep water near the Dunlawton Beach Approach at Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, on Saturday around 5:30 p.m. A shark estimated at about four feet long bit his left foot and ankle as he tried to pull his pregnant fiancée out of the water. Beach Safety personnel treated him on the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital. The injuries were described as non‑life‑threatening; surgeons later operated on his foot, and High expects a recovery period of roughly three months. He said his immediate priority was his fiancée’s safety rather than his own injury.
