Sense and Sensibility film adaptation set for October 2026 release

A new film adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel ‘Sense and Sensibility’, directed by Georgia Oakley, is scheduled for release in October 2026. The production features Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood and Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood.

Critics and production details highlight a departure from traditional Regency glamour. The film aims for a ‘wild naturalism’ and a ‘lived-in’ aesthetic, utilizing natural dyes like elderberries and logwood for the costumes to create a more bohemian, earthy look for the Dashwood sisters. Visual elements are described as moody and claustrophobic, using windswept landscapes and tight framing to reflect the social constraints faced by the characters.

During the Los Angeles premiere and press tour, lead actress Daisy Edgar-Jones has drawn attention for her fashion choices, ranging from vintage archival pieces by Chloé and Giorgio Armani to contemporary designer looks.
