Georgia officials indict 11 in multistate retail theft ring

Eleven individuals have been indicted in Georgia for allegedly operating a multistate organized retail crime ring that targeted major national retailers. A Chatham County grand jury returned the indictment on September 16, charging the suspects with violations of the Georgia RICO Act alongside counts of shoplifting, robbery, theft by taking, and receiving stolen property.

Prosecutors allege the group operated from October 2022 through September 2026, targeting ten retailers including Walmart, Home Depot, Ulta Beauty, Kay Jewelers, and Bath & Body Works. The alleged thefts involved organized shoplifting sprees and snatch-and-grab jewelry robberies across 11 Georgia counties, as well as locations in Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia.

The stolen merchandise, valued at over $200,000, included high-value items such as Rolex watches, gold jewelry, diamond rings, designer sunglasses, electronics, and power tools. Investigators allege that some of the stolen goods were subsequently sold through Meta platforms, including Instagram.
