Georgia School Districts Show Gains in Milestones Tests

Rockdale County Public Schools reported improvements in mathematics for elementary and middle grades and gains in eighth‑grade science, social studies, high‑school biology and algebra on the 2025‑2026 Georgia Milestones assessments. Superintendent Stephanie Johnson said the district is “moving in the right direction” and will use the data to shape targeted improvement plans.

Cobb County and Marietta City Schools also posted results that exceeded the state average in every subject tested. Cobb highlighted that 33 schools had 90% or more students achieving the “developing learner” level in math, and 20 schools reached the same benchmark in science. Marietta ranked among the top five metro districts for math scores, with fourth‑graders showing the largest year‑over‑year improvement. Both districts noted strong performance in social studies, while English Language Arts scores are pending release.

The results are intended to inform parents, educators, policymakers and the public about student progress and to guide future curriculum and instructional strategies across the state.
