Georgia sees rise in tourism from GCC countries
Georgia recorded 145,513 visits from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in 2025, representing a 3.4% increase from the previous year. The country welcomed a total of 7.8 million international tourists in 2025, with tourism revenue reaching USD 4.7 billion and contributing 7.4% to the national GDP.
Growth was noted across several regional markets, including a 9.1% increase in arrivals from Saudi Arabia, a 4.6% rise from Qatar, and a 0.7% increase from the United Arab Emirates. Momentum continued into 2026, with visits from Gulf countries reaching a record 26,397 in the first half of the year.
Key attractions for Gulf travelers include mountain retreats in Gudauri and Svaneti, coastal escapes in Batumi, wine tourism in Kakheti, and wellness destinations such as Borjomi, Tskaltubo, and Sairme. The Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) has focused on marketing the country’s cooler climate and nature as an escape from the Gulf summer. Accessibility is supported by an open-skies policy, visa-free entry for GCC nationals, and approximately 154 flights per week.
