Georgia Senators call for investigation into ICE facility and scrutinize Mike Collins
Georgia Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff have requested an immediate federal investigation into the Folkston ICE processing center in South Georgia. The facility, which is the largest in the United States, is facing allegations of medical neglect and retaliation against approximately 500 detainees who initiated a hunger strike in early October to protest processing conditions. The senators' letter to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin claims that at least 13 protesters may have been placed in solitary confinement in response to their actions.
Separately, Republican Congressman Mike Collins is facing scrutiny during his Senate race against incumbent Jon Ossoff. A review of past social media activity revealed remarks where Collins suggested American leaders deserved to be hanged from helicopters during the Afghanistan withdrawal and joked about pushing former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from an airplane. The findings also highlight Collins' history of downplaying the January 6 Capitol attack and his associations with figures linked to White nationalism.
