Georgia sets record early voting turnout

Georgia has recorded record-breaking turnout for early voting. On the first day of balloting, the state saw 188,700 votes cast, which is approximately 53,000 more than the first-day total during the 2022 midterm elections.

By noon on Thursday, the total number of early votes cast reached 436,000. Most of these were in-person ballots, while approximately 18,300 mail-in ballots have been accepted. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger stated that the high turnout “proves that voters have confidence in the integrity of our elections.”

In Cobb County, 16,392 voters participated on the first day across 13 polling locations. The busiest site was the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, while the slowest was the Gritters Library. Early voting in Georgia continues through October 30, ahead of the November 3 election day.
