Georgia opens third segment of Samtredia‑Grigori expressway
Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the opening of the third section of the Samtredia‑Grigori high‑speed highway. He highlighted that the project delivers both economic and social benefits, linking settlements more closely and improving conditions for residents and visitors.
The opening brings the total length of operational expressways in Georgia to 389 km, with an additional 60 km under rapid construction. Kobakhidze thanked the builders, engineers, the European Investment Bank, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Minister Revaz Soka for their contributions and for addressing management issues that had previously delayed work. He noted that before 2012 Georgia had only 68 km of such roads, underscoring the accelerated pace of development.
