Georgian Dream expands political council and addresses party bans
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that Georgian Dream has expanded its political council by including Irakli Kirtskhalia and Zurab Patauradze. The decision followed meetings of the party's parliamentary majority and political council, which were led by the party's honorary chairman, Bidzina Ivanishvili. According to Kobakhidze, these discussions focused on both domestic and foreign policy issues.
Separately, Kobakhidze addressed legal challenges regarding the potential banning of certain political parties. He stated that the government believes these parties are unconstitutional based on their past, present, and future plans. He noted that the Constitutional Court will ultimately decide the matter, arguing that these parties do not recognize the legitimacy of the existing constitutional order.
