Georginio Wijnaldum in talks with Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake has held discussions with Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum regarding a potential move to Major League Soccer. While Wijnaldum has reportedly been impressed by the club and is open to the move, no agreement is currently imminent.

The 35-year-old midfielder is a free agent following his departure from Al-Ettifaq this summer. Wijnaldum brings significant international and club experience, having earned 96 caps for the Netherlands and played for prominent clubs including Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Roma. During his tenure at Liverpool, he was a key figure in their Premier League and Champions League successes.

Real Salt Lake is looking to bolster its midfield before the September 2 transfer deadline, particularly following the departure of winger Zavier Gozo to Crystal Palace for a club-record fee of nearly $15 million.
