Al Ittihad signs Georginio Wijnaldum to one-year deal

Al Ittihad has officially signed Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum on a one-year contract as a free agent. The 35-year-old veteran joins the Jeddah-based club following the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

Wijnaldum returns to the Roshn Saudi League after a three-season stint with Al Ettifaq, where he made 96 appearances, scoring 36 goals and providing 16 assists. His move to Al Ittihad aims to bolster the midfield of the 2024-25 Saudi champions with high-level European experience, having previously played for major clubs such as Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Roma.

The signing comes as Al Ittihad seeks to strengthen its squad following the departure of former Liverpool teammate Fabinho to Trabzonspor.
