Georgy Yunovidov wins IBA. PRO Intercontinental heavyweight title

Georgy Yunovidov secured the IBA. PRO Intercontinental heavyweight title with a seventh-round technical knockout victory over Chris Thompson in Vologda, Russia, on September 11, 2026.

This rematch served as redemption for Yunovidov, who had previously lost to the South African Thompson via unanimous decision in Manila in October 2025. With this win, Yunovidov improves his professional record to 11 wins and two defeats, while Thompson moves to 16-7-1.

Following the bout, Yunovidov expressed confidence in his development and noted his respect for fellow Russian Murat Gassiev, the current IBA. PRO world title holder. Yunovidov did not rule out a future all-Russian heavyweight clash against Gassiev.
