Geosan Group charged in Motol hospital corruption probe
Czech police have charged the construction company Geosan Group as part of a major corruption investigation involving Motol University Hospital. The case centers on the reconstruction of the hospital’s Blue Pavilion, a project Geosan secured in 2021 for 1.2 billion CZK.
Investigators allege that bribery, subsidy fraud, money laundering, and damage to European Union financial interests occurred. While 19 individuals and four companies face charges, Geosan Group has denied any wrongdoing. The company stated that the criminal prosecution of the legal entity is a “formal legal consequence” of the ongoing case and has filed a complaint to contest the charges.
The dispute also involves significant financial litigation, with Geosan seeking over 200 million CZK from the hospital for additional work and cost increases related to the war in Ukraine. The hospital has rejected these claims.
