Geotab integrates Smart OBM systems for Australian heavy vehicle compliance

Geotab has announced the extension of its Australian certification to include Smart On-Board Mass (OBM) system pairing with Airtec Corporation. This integration allows heavy haulage operators to manage telematics and mass monitoring through a single, unified platform.

Previously, operators requiring Smart OBM for specific access schemes often had to utilize separate systems alongside their telematics, which increased vendor complexity and compliance risks. The new solution combines Geotab’s TCA type-approved GO9-LTM telematics device with Airtec’s AXS Series Smart OBM system.

Smart OBM technology digitally measures axle group and gross mass in real time, transmitting data to regulators and road managers via the Telematics Analytics Platform (TAP) administered by Transport Certification Australia (TCA). This capability supports access to Higher Mass Limits (HML) and Performance Based Standards (PBS) networks while providing real-time visibility to prevent overload breaches.
