Gerace proposes nurse and priest exchange with Nigeria

During an official welcome ceremony in Gerace, Italy, local authorities proposed a strategic exchange program between Italy and Nigeria to address critical shortages in the religious and healthcare sectors. The proposal was presented to Paul Oga Adikwu, the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Holy See.

The initiative aims to establish institutional relationships to facilitate the exchange of qualified Nigerian nurses and Catholic priests. Ambassador Adikwu noted that Nigeria is a global center for highly skilled nursing professionals and a significant source of Catholic religious vocations.

Gerace Mayor Rudi Lizzi expressed openness to dialogue and future collaborative projects, emphasizing the city's commitment to multiculturalism and international cooperation. The meeting took place alongside the Fisarmonia Ierax Global Music Festival, serving as a platform for cultural and diplomatic engagement.
