Gerakan Pramuka marks 65th anniversary in Indonesia
Indonesia marked the 65th anniversary of the Gerakan Pramuka (Scout Movement) on August 14, 2026. In Kepulauan Selayar, Regent Muhammad Natsir Ali led the ceremony, emphasizing the movement's role in supporting national food self-sufficiency toward the ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’ vision. He noted that scouting education is evolving from ‘learning by doing’ to ‘learning, creating, and solving’ to address modern challenges like artificial intelligence and climate change.
In Malang, the anniversary highlighted the movement's importance in building leadership and character amidst the digital age. Amarta Faza, Chairperson of the Malang Regency Scout Branch, discussed how the organization serves as a defense against the negative impacts of high internet penetration among Indonesian youth. The movement aims to transform its image and utilize practical field experience to foster integrity and adaptability in future leaders.
