Gerard Jones denies dismissal and alleges physical assault
Gerard Jones, the head coach of the Bangladesh Under-20 football team, has alleged that he was a victim of a physical assault at his workplace. In a video message shared on social media, the British coach stated that the situation was severe enough to require him to call the police for protection.
Jones denied rumors regarding a conflict with the goalkeeping coach, asserting that their relationship remains excellent. He suggested that certain parties may be spreading false information to create instability. He also addressed rumors of his dismissal by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), stating that the federation has not communicated any such decision to him.
The incident reportedly stems from a confrontation at the team hotel involving an assistant coach. While the BFF's development committee has launched an investigation, Jones emphasized his focus on preparing the team for the upcoming AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers in Uzbekistan, scheduled to begin on August 31.
