Chilean Health Commission reviews Ricarte Soto Law updates

The Health Commission has reviewed a high-priority project to optimize the sustainability of the Fund for High-Cost Diagnoses and Treatments, commonly known as the Ricarte Soto Law. The proposal aims to inject new resources into the fund by increasing the annual fiscal contribution from 100 billion pesos to 185 billion pesos.

Additional amendments include raising the expenditure limit from 80% to 90% to allow for a larger basal fund and permitting additional fiscal contributions. The project also addresses the scientific evaluation process, prioritization of recommendations, decision-making procedures, and the publication of the Maximum Industrial Price. Furthermore, the bill includes provisions for incorporating treatments into the Explicit Health Guarantees (GES) regime.
