Gerardo Diego Library to reopen in Villa de Vallecas

The Gerardo Diego Library in the Villa de Vallecas district is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, October 13, following a comprehensive renovation project. The reopening has been moved forward by approximately one week from the original schedule.

The renovation included a complete overhaul of the climate control system across all four floors, painting throughout most of the facility, and floor polishing. To avoid the logistical difficulty of moving large volumes of furniture and books, the lending and children's rooms were excluded from the painting works.

Upon reopening, the library will restore all services, including book lending, consultation, study areas, internet access, and cultural programming. The facility had undergone partial closures since July 21, with a full closure in effect since August 31 to complete the final phase of the works.
