GERB-SDS deputy declares shift to critical opposition in Bulgaria
Toma Bikov, a deputy from the GERB-SDS parliamentary group, announced that the party will shift from a constructive to a critical opposition stance during the new session of the Bulgarian National Assembly. Bikov stated that the tolerance shown during the government's first 100 days was a matter of political culture, but it is no longer a luxury the party can afford.
Bikov characterized the administration of Rumen Radev as a “transitional, rather than a reformist government,” arguing that it focuses on narrow party goals and technical tasks instead of structural changes or long-term national consolidation. He criticized the ruling majority for lacking an effective decision-making mechanism and for using its parliamentary majority for tactical legislative goals and administrative appointments rather than seeking broad social consensus on vital national issues.
