Gerda Terék wins U23 wrestling world title in Las Vegas
Gerda Terék has become the first Hungarian female U23 wrestling world champion after a dominant performance at the championships in Las Vegas. Competing in the 55 kg weight class, the 21-year-old Csepel SC athlete secured the gold medal by defeating Japan's Juna Sawatani via fall in the second round of the final.
Terék’s path to the title included technical victories over opponents from Russia, Uzbekistan, and Canada. Her performance mirrors her success at the spring U23 European Championships.
Other notable results from the Hungarian delegation include a silver medal by Levente Lévai in the 77 kg Greco-Roman category and fifth-place finishes by László Darabos and Karolina Pók.
