Gerdau expands internship program amid steel industry talent needs

Gerdau, Brazil's largest steel producer, has opened applications for its 2026 G. Start university internship program. The company is offering 53 positions, with 50 specifically targeting engineering students to address the growing shortage of qualified professionals in the industrial sector. Other opportunities are available in technology, business, commercial, and administration areas. Applications are open until September 13 for students graduating between March 2028 and December 2029.

In related industry developments, Abimetal-Sicetel will participate in the Latam Wire + Steel 2026 trade fair in São Paulo from August 10 to 12. The association will host a dedicated stand featuring eight member companies, including Gerdau and Belgo, to showcase products and technologies. The event will also feature a Mobile Welding School initiative in partnership with SENAI-SP to promote technical training and innovation within the steel processing chain.
