Geregu Power and Siemens Energy sign transformer agreement

Geregu Power Plc has entered into an agreement with Siemens Energy for the supply of three generator transformers to improve the reliability of its 435-megawatt power plant in Kogi State, Nigeria. The procurement targets the plant’s three generating units—GT11, GT12, and GT13—which utilize Siemens V94.2 gas turbine technology.

The initiative aims to modernize critical infrastructure, reduce equipment-related outages, and strengthen the plant’s connection to the Nigerian national grid. By minimizing the risk of transformer-related failures, the company seeks to ensure more stable electricity delivery and reduce maintenance costs.

Under the terms of the deal, Siemens Energy will manage the design, manufacture, testing, and delivery of the equipment. Geregu Power will participate in Factory Acceptance Testing to ensure the transformers meet agreed specifications before they are shipped to Nigeria. The company did not disclose the specific contract value, delivery schedule, or commissioning date.
