Geregu Power appoints Mohammed Sani Jaoji as Acting CEO

Geregu Power Plc has appointed Engr. Mohammed Sani Jaoji as Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective August 17, 2026. The appointment follows the conclusion of Interim CEO Sean Manley’s term on August 14 and comes after the company defaulted on its debt obligations. The new appointment is subject to approval by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Jaoji, a mechanical engineer with over 30 years of experience in the power sector, previously served as a Technical Assistant to the Minister of Power and held various leadership roles at Geregu Power Plc. The company’s current board is chaired by Senator Abdul-Aziz Abubakar Yari, following the resignation of the previous board led by Femi Otedola.

Concerns have been raised regarding corporate filings, as a recent notice announcing Jaoji’s appointment was submitted to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) using an outdated letterhead. The document listed former directors, including Femi Otedola and Akin Akinfemiwa, rather than the current board members ratified during the June 2026 Annual General Meeting.
