European news: Solar thermal innovation, legal rulings, and humanitarian efforts

Various developments are reported across Europe. At ETH Zürich, researcher Luca Thommen has developed a solar thermal collector prototype capable of reaching 150 degrees Celsius, aiming to provide cost-effective industrial process heat as an alternative to natural gas.

In Austria, researchers at TU Graz have created 3D-printed highly porous ceramic cubes designed for passive urban cooling. Using evaporation principles, these structures can cool indoor and outdoor environments without energy-intensive air conditioning.

In Germany, the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) has largely rejected the appeal of Reiner Fuellmich, a prominent figure in the ‘Querdenker’ movement. Fuellmich was previously convicted of embezzlement for diverting approximately 700,000 euros in donations to private accounts.
