Gergely Karácsony reveals he and partner are not legally married

Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony revealed in a recent interview with Best magazine that despite referring to his partner, Virág Kiss, as his wife, the couple is not legally married. Having been together for 25 years, Karácsony noted that their upcoming anniversary could serve as an ideal opportunity to officially formalize their relationship.

During the discussion, the Mayor also shared insights into his personal life and interests. He expressed a deep appreciation for the theater, describing it as a communal experience he often enjoys with his family or friends. He mentioned that while his professional responsibilities as Mayor can be demanding, he and his partner make a conscious effort to spend quality time together, often attending concerts, operas, or plays at least once a week.

Karácsony also spoke about their family life, noting that as their children have grown older and become more independent, the couple has more flexibility to plan shared activities. He expressed great pride in their children and reflected on the value of the time they spend together as a family.
