Geriatric specialists convene in Brazil to address aging population

Health professionals and specialists are gathering in Brazil to address the challenges of an aging population. The 13th Midwest Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology (COGER 2026) will take place in Brasília from September 17 to 19. The event aims to discuss healthcare strategies, research, and technology to meet the needs of an increasing elderly demographic. In the Federal District, projections suggest that by 2030, there will be approximately one elderly person for every four inhabitants.

In addition to the congress, the Academia Espírita de Letras do Estado de Goiás will host a seminar in Goiânia on September 26. Led by geriatrician Elisa Franco de Assis Costa, the discussion will explore the possibility of aging with joy as part of the monthly 'Medicine and Spirituality' series.
