Gerindra party dismisses three Surabaya council members over drug allegations

The Gerindra Party has dismissed three members of the Surabaya Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) following their involvement in an alleged drug party at a hotel in Surabaya on October 28, 2026. Habiburokhman, Chairman of the Gerindra Party Council, confirmed that the party's ethics tribunal decided on their dismissal during a session held on October 8, 2026.

Habiburokhman denied any intervention by the party regarding the police investigation conducted by the Surabaya City Police (Polrestabes Surabaya). He addressed the recent mutation of seven narcotics unit officers involved in the arrest, stating that reports suggest the personnel changes were due to officers allegedly requesting money from those arrested.

Surabaya Police Chief Kombes Luthfie Sulistiawan stated that the rotation of the seven officers was part of internal organizational dynamics and career development, though he noted they are being investigated by the East Java Regional Police Professional and Security Division for alleged violations of standard operating procedures.
