Gerland Stadium marks 100‑year anniversary during LOU‑Montpellier rugby match

The Lyon Olympique Universitaire (LOU) faced Montpellier in the final league round while celebrating the centenary of the historic Gerland stadium, now known as Matmut Stadium. With 20,031 spectators, the club organised a festive program that included a giant tifo, chants from the Bad Gones and Lyon 1950 supporters, and the recording of a message that will be released in 100 years.

Former Olympique Lyonnais striker Sonny Anderson attended the event, wearing a special‑edition shirt and speaking about his memories of the venue. Although LOU lost the match, the atmosphere remained upbeat, with fans filling the stands and the stadium’s western side still partially covered, prompting hopes for fuller crowds next season.
