German Actors Martin Brambach and Christine Sommer Publish Love Anthology

After 25 years of collaborating on stage, actors Martin Brambach and Christine Sommer have compiled their first joint anthology, "Liebe! In Briefen und Literatur – eine sehr persönliche Auswahl". The book, featuring letters, poems and excerpts from writers such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Rainer Maria Rilke, Simone de Beauvoir, Hannah Arendt, Winston Churchill and Charles Bukowski, will be published on 15 October and is already available for pre‑order.

The launch reading was initially set for 17 December in Recklinghausen at the Buchhandlung Kapitel Zwei, but a correction announced that the event will actually take place on 15 February in the Kassiopeia hall of the Ruhrfestspielhaus. As Christine Sommer explained, “Statt am 21. Januar um 19 Uhr findet die Veranstaltung erst am 15. Februar im Saal Kassiopeia im Ruhrfestspielhaus statt. Martin dreht im Januar einen neuen Film und kann deshalb nicht in Recklinghausen sein.” The couple also noted that they have been exploring love letters in world literature for a quarter‑century, saying “Martin und ich haben vor 25 Jahren angefangen, uns auf der Bühne mit dem Thema Liebesbriefe der Weltliteratur zu beschäftigen.”
