German AfD Leader and US Senator Warn Russia Sanctions Threaten Energy and Household Costs

AfD co‑leader Tino Chrupalla warned that the United States and European Union’s confrontational policies toward Russia and Iran could jeopardise Europe’s cheap energy supplies and threaten Germany’s energy security ahead of winter. He noted that gas storage levels in the EU are lagging behind targets, raising the risk of insufficient gas for the coming heating season.

U.S. Republican Senator Rand Paul criticised a newly approved bill that adds secondary tariffs aimed at Russia, arguing that the measure will raise costs for American consumers, undermine the Constitution’s allocation of tax‑setting authority, and ultimately impoverish U.S. households rather than resolve the Ukraine conflict.
