German Alexander Zverev Claims French Open Men's Title

Alexander Zverev became the first German man to win the French Open singles crown since Henner Henkel in 1937, defeating Italy's Flavio Cobolli in a five‑set final (6‑1, 4‑6, 6‑4, 6‑7 (5), 6‑1). His victory marked the first German Grand Slam men’s singles triumph in Paris in nearly a century.

Zverev secured the title without meeting any top‑10 opponent, as defending champion Carlos Alcaraz withdrew and other leading players such as Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic exited early. The win made him the first man in 24 years to win a major without facing a top‑10 player. The German adds a 25th career title to his résumé, which already includes seven Masters 1000 trophies, two ATP Finals victories and an Olympic gold medal, while also carrying the baggage of past off‑court controversies.
