Sora Matsushima reaches number one in men's singles table tennis rankings

Sora Matsushima has reached the number one spot in the men's singles world rankings, according to the latest update from the International Table Tennis Federation. At 19 years and 5 months old, Matsushima becomes the youngest player to achieve this ranking, breaking the previous record held by China's Lin Shidong.

This achievement marks the first time a Japanese player has held the top ranking since Seiji Ono in 1980. Additionally, it signifies a shift in dominance, as no Chinese player holds the number one position for the first time since 2018. Wang Chuqin has dropped to fourth place in the rankings. The current top three consists of Matsushima at number one, Felix Lebrun of France at number two, and Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan at number three.
