German amateur football reports decline in violence and discrimination incidents
The German Football Association (DFB) reports that reported incidents of violence and discrimination in amateur football have decreased for the third consecutive year. During the 2025/26 season, the number of reported incidents fell to 5,450, down from 5,566 in the previous season. These incidents represented 0.42 percent of the 1.284 million completed match reports.
Despite the decline in overall incidents, the DFB noted a slight increase in match abandonments, which rose from 825 in the 2024/2025 season to 842 in the most recent period. Ronny Zimmermann, the DFB's first Vice President for Amateurs, stated that the rise in abandonments means there is no reason to be satisfied with the current trend and emphasized the need for intensified prevention efforts.
Specific data shows that violence incidents occurred in 3,386 matches (0.26 percent), while discrimination incidents decreased from 2,398 to 2,315. The DFB continues to utilize prevention measures such as the 'Captain's Rule' and the 'DFB-STOPP' concept to mitigate conflicts on the pitch.
