German and French youth engage in musical cultural exchange

Youth from Germany and France have participated in cultural exchange programs centered on music and language to foster European unity. In Wurmberg, 22 teenagers from the French Queyras region joined local hosts for a week of musical performances, dancing, and cultural exploration. The exchange culminated in a closing ceremony featuring a youth orchestra directed by Maik Widmann, where participants performed songs such as “Ein Hoch auf uns” and a modified version of Edith Piaf’s “Milord.”

In a separate but related initiative, the Arbeitskreis Musik in der Jugend (AMJ) Baden-Württemberg organized its sixth German-French music retreat at the EC-Center Dobel. This program hosted 40 young people for intensive orchestra rehearsals and daily choral singing. Beyond musical training, the retreat emphasized linguistic integration through playful language animation to reduce barriers between the two nationalities. Organizers noted high demand for the program, which aims to pass on the positive social experiences gained by previous participants to a new generation.
