German art festivals scheduled for Berlin and Leipzig in September 2026
Two major art festivals are scheduled to take place in Germany in early September 2026.
In Berlin-Lichtenberg, the 19th 'Lange Nacht der Bilder' will be held on Friday, September 4, from 18:00 to 24:00. The event features 47 free-entry locations, including studios, workshops, galleries, and cultural spaces that are often not publicly accessible. The program includes painting, photography, sculpture, sound art, and performances. The official opening begins at 17:00 at Kulturhaus Karlshorst with an exhibition by Lili Yuan and music by the Berliner Shamisen-Trio Hazama.
In Leipzig, the 'Nacht der Kunst' is set for Saturday, September 5, 2026. Curated by the Förderverein Georg-Schumann-Straße e. V., the event takes place along Georg-Schumann-Straße in the Gohlis district. Approximately 60 locations, ranging from established venues like the Buddehaus to private residences and small shops, will host various forms of art, dance, and music. The event includes family-oriented activities such as a children's rally and various culinary offerings.
