German athletes compete at world racketlon in Rotterdam and beach volleyball in Hamburg
The five‑day Racketlon World Championship will be held in Rotterdam, with Germany fielding a record 13 teams across all age groups. The Moers Racketlon Club (MRV) will be represented by 16‑year‑old Ylvie Zahn in the Nations Cup, senior players Nicky Kamphues, Axel Conrath, Heike Voigt and former U60 world champion Carola von Heimburg, as well as veteran U55 team members who were champions in 2023‑2024 and are among the favourites for the title. Injured player Frank Kleiber will travel as team captain, while Volker Sach and Thomas Knaack will make their final appearance before moving to the next age category.
From 5 to 9 August, Hamburg’s Horn racecourse will host an elite beach‑volleyball tournament with a US$300,000 prize pool. German women’s pair Cinja Tillmann and Svenja Müller, the world No. 7 duo and 2024 European champions, are seeded in the main draw, joined by Sandra Ittlinger/Kim van de Velde and Louisa Lippmann/Melanie Paul. On the men’s side, Paul Henning/Lukas Pfretzschner enter via wildcard, while Nils Ehlers teams with interim partner Lui Wüst after his regular partner’s shoulder injury. International contenders include Norway’s Anders Mol/Christian Sørum, Sweden’s Jacob Hölting Nilsson/Elmer Andersson, Brazil’s Ana Patrícia/Duda, Canada’s Melissa/Brandie and Italy’s Gottardi/Orsi Toth.
